Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

Any inmate that has been victimized sexually can report twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week to medical, mental health, or correctional staff, law enforcement or a sexual assault telephone line without financial costs.

You can report by: physically talking to medical, mental health, law enforcement, chaplain, or correctional staff. You can call the YCDOC Sexual Assault/Abuse Telephone Line, you can write a grievance in the Kiosk system or you can write to YCDOC Internal Affairs.

All reports will be taken seriously and investigated. All sustained reports will be forwarded to authorities in accordance with mandatory reporting laws and followed up by medical and mental health at no financial cost.

  • Three digit 567 is an unblocked number for your use on the inmate telephone system. 567 and (509)574-2985 is not recorded or monitored at the Main Jail Facility. It goes directly to the YCDOC Internal Affairs Office at: 104 N. First Street, Yakima Washington 98901.
  • The YCDOC Internal Affairs Sergeant or Administration Lieutenant will check the messages during business hours, Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
  • The sexual assault/abuse telephone line can also be used by anyone in the community to report incidences of inmate sexual assault/abuse or staff sexual misconduct.
  • You don’t have to be the victim to use the line; you can report something that is happening to someone else.
  • You don’t have to leave your name or telephone number; however, you need to provide enough information so that an investigation can begin.
