Emergency Volunteer Opportunities in Yakima Valley

Amateur Radio

The Yakima County ARES/RACES group is involved with supporting a number of organizations in the Yakima Valley include the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management and the Yakima Sheriff's Office.

Community Emergency Response Team

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer group that has been deployed throughout the years to assist in the various disasters or situations that our county has encountered such as floods, fires, community outreach and training, and law enforcement training exercises.

Fire Department

Most of the fire department staff in the Yakima Valley are volunteers.  If you are interested in helping you neighbors, find your local fire department and inquire about volunteering.  There are volunteer opportunities as a firefighter and supporting the departments by not going into fires.

Red Cross

Whether helping one displaced family or thousands, providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran, or teaching others how to respond in emergencies, it’s through the efforts of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things.

Search and Rescue

Yakima county sheriff's office provides search and rescue throughout Yakima County and outlying areas, primarily in remote wilderness areas. Our team of highly trained and motivated volunteers bring special skills, equipment and their personal time to assist the sheriff in providing exceptional search and rescue service to the citizens of Yakima County.
