Public meetings at Cottonwood Junior High School on June 8th and June 9th, 2008, to review flood maps, discuss mitigation measures for the flooding issues in this area, and receive comments from residents.
 November 2008
Yakima County Flood Control District Submitted an HMGP grant to FEMA for addressing potential flooding in the area. Grant was not funded due to insufficient flood data information.
 November 2010
 Yakima County Flood Control District submits PDM grant request for addressing potential flooding in the area. Grant not funded due again to insufficient flood data information.
 December 2011
Yakima County Flood Control District submits PDM grant request to Washington State EMD and FEMA for $2,267,500 to address potential flooding in the Shaw and Wide Hollow Creeks area.
 May 2012
FEMA funds the PDM Shaw Creek grant proposal pending completion of the environmental work and of the NEPA process. Funds are obligated, but not awarded.
 May 2011 - November 2013
 Landowners contacted regarding availability of parcels for purchase. West Consulting Inc. is contracted to complete a hydraulic evaluation and preliminary design for the project. Cultural Resource field work is completed for the project.
 October 2014 - August 2015
Conduct wetland and ordinary high water mark survey and delineations for project area.
 November 2013 - August 2015
FEMA and URS develop draft Environmental Assessment for review.

Complete Biological Assessment

Public meeting was held on September 16, 2015 to review Draft Environmental Assessment and receive public comments. Residents will be notified of public meeting schedule.
 November 2015
Completion of Final Environmental Assessment and FONSI. FEMA initiating funding of project.

 January 2016 - December 2016
Obtain all permits for the project from the Corps of Engineers, Department of Ecology, United States Fish and Wildlife Services (NWFS) regarding wetland designation, endangered species, and permitting requirements. Negotiate and acquire all easements and properties for the project.
 January 2016 - December 2016
 Complete the final design of all phases of the project including the 2 bridges, Shaw Creek relocation channel, conveyance improvements in Wide Hollow Creek, and Wide Hollow overflow channel.
 January 2017 - December 2017
 Contract and complete all of the construction phases of the project including the two bridges, the Shaw Creek relocation, overflow channel, and Wide Hollow conveyance improvements within Wide Hollow Creek.
 January 2018 - December 2018
Initial plantings on all disturbed sites with native shrubs, trees and grass species in the new channel and other disturbed areas of the project.
 January 2018 - December 2022
Monitoring and maintenance of vegetation plantings, which will include replanting and long term stewardship/maintenance agreement utilized for all areas requiring maintenance.
