The Right-of-Way Section of the Public Services Department provides the department with real estate support. Section staff provide support by:
  • Identifying ownership of property (existing right-of-way) owned by the County, identifying ownership of property needed for various projects
  • Preparing value estimates (appraisals) of property required for various projects
  • Preparing and acquisition of deeds to acquire additional property
The section also manages the properties after taking ownership. These duties are all performed under the guidelines provided by the Washington State Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration as outlined in the Uniform Acquisition and Relocation Policy Act, Revised Code of Washington (RCW), Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and County Code.
