Yakima County Public Services, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be performing needed maintenance on the Yakima River Federal Levees this summer. We’re expecting construction work to take two to three months. A map of affected areas can be found here. News release here.
Construction on the east side of the river will begin on Monday, June 12th, near NC Machinery and Morton & Sons. Work on this site finished on July 24th.
The first phase of construction on the Greenway will begin on Monday, June 12th, upstream of Robertson Landing near Nob Hill Wrecking and the Arboretum. Work on this site finished on July 27th.
The second phase of construction on the Greenway was expected to begin on Wednesday, July 13th, near the Oxford Suites and El Mirador. This date was pushed back to July 19th. Path closure and work on this site is estimated to take three to four weeks. Work near Rotary Lake began on July 24th.
Phase II is currently in its final stages, with paving taking place from August 14th to August 25th, at which point pedestrians and bicyclists will have full access to the trail again. We thank everyone for their patience during this needed rehabilitation work.
